South Korean Assembly Speaker Visits Suez Canal

Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority received Park Byeong-seug, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of South Korea, and Hong Jin-Wook, the Korean Ambassador in Cairo, accompanied by a high-level parliamentary delegation, to open new horizons for cooperation in light of the joint relations between the two countries in all fields.

Rabie reviewed the developments of various projects in the Suez Canal, and the growth rates in the number and tonnage of ships transiting the canal, stressing that the authority possesses great and perse experiences that enabled it to face various challenges, which was evident in the management of the corona crisis and that of the giant Panamanian container ship "EVER GIVEN".

He stressed that the Egyptian state pays great attention to developing the navigation course of the canal, developing the surrounding area, and transforming it into a global logistics and industrial hub, in a way that enhances its supportive role in serving the global trade movement.

He explained that the authority seeks to maximize the benefit from the capabilities of the authority's arsenals and subsidiaries by establishing partnerships with successful partners from friendly countries to achieve common interests, pointing in this regard to the initial that brought the authority with the global Samsung arsenal.

On his part, Byeong-seug expressed his happiness for visiting the Suez Canal, praising the authority's ability to end the crisis of the Panamanian container in a record time.

He said that his country possesses global expertise in the field of shipbuilding and repair, expressing his hope that cooperation will be invested in establishing partnerships between Korean companies specialized in and the authority.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Authority presented the shield of honor of the new Suez Canal to the President of the Korean National Assembly, who in return presented a souvenir.
