The Embassy of the Republic of Korea hosted a Ramadan Iftar on April 7th, inviting the White Hearts members and the students from the Korean language department of Ain Shams University to the Ambassador’s residence in Maadi to celebrate the spirit of holy Ramadan – love, caring and sharing.

The White Hearts team was established in the city of El-Mahalla in 2017 to revive the Egyptian folklore dance with more than 50 people of determination, having amazing musical talents and crystal clear hearts as the team name means.

The Embassy has maintained a friendly relationship with this musical group with special needs since Ambassador Hong Jin-wook met these young dancers for the first time at the “International Festival for Drums and Traditional Arts” held in Cairo in June last year, where he was also given the chance to play the Saxophone in front of the Egyptian audiences along with other Egyptian and foreign teams.

Praising the fabulous dance performances following the Iftar, Ambassador Hong expressed his wish that the holy month of Ramadan will be an opportunity for all people to learn the lesson that “our differences can be filled with friendship and love toward each other and any difference won’t tear us apart.”
