Korean Amb. Organizes Webinar to Boost Medical Cooperation with Egypt

On Monday, the Korean embassy in Cairo organized a webinar on the Egyptian medical market and the Egyptian government's measure in the medical and pharmaceutical areas.

The webinar aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health and medical sector, including pharmaceutical products and medical equipment.

The event was held in the presence of the Korean Ambassador Hong Jin-wook, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, in addition to more than 60 Korean Companies interested in advancing to the Egyptian medical market.

In his remarks, Hong expressed his gratitude to Zayed, officials from the Ministry of Health and the Egyptian Drug Authority, as well as Korean businessmen for participating in the webinar despite their busy schedules.

Moreover, Hong stressed that the health and medical sector is pivotal for the two countries bilateral cooperation, given Egypt’s ambitious plan to become a medical hub in the region, particularly in the manufacturing of vaccines and pharmaceutical products.

Hong said he is pleased with the hosting of this meaningful event at the right time to boost the bilateral medical and health cooperation between them.

The ambassador added that over 60 Korean companies attended this event, reflecting Korean companies’ interest in advancing to Egyptian medical market.

He expressed hope that investments and trade with Egypt could be further expanded, taking advantage of this opportunity that will give momentum to the bilateral cooperation and will eventually lead to tangible joint projects between the two friendly countries.

On her part, Zayed thanked the ambassador for his efforts to enhance the bilateral medical cooperation, stressing that today’s webinar is a good opportunity to help Korean medical companies advance to the Egyptian market.

She also expressed willingness to continue close cooperation with the Korean government and companies, voicing hope for tangible cooperation projects to be realized with the Egyptian counterparts, including Vacsera.

The minister added that Korean companies are top world level in the medical technology and quality products, pointing to the possible collaboration for technology transfer and joint manufacturing.

During the webinar, the Egyptian Drug Authority made a presentation on the Egyptian policies and regulations in the medical sector and answered Korean companies’ inquiries which help companies better understand the Egyptian related policies and regulations to access to the Egyptian market.

In the same vein, Kotra is arranging online B2B consultation meetings between Korean and Egyptian medical companies, extended over 5 weeks from September 28 through October 28, with participation of more than 30 Korean companies to discuss possible business collaboration with Egyptian Companies.
