​A high-level conference marking 30 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Egypt convened in Cairo today bringing together government officials and top business leaders to discuss the next phase of their strategic economic partnership.

​The event titled "30 Years of Economic Cooperation – Achievements Challenges and Opportunities" featured discussions focused on solidifying past gains and developing forward-looking policies for sustainable growth.

​The conference was opened by remarks from H.E. Kim Yonghyon Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Egypt and featured a keynote speech from H.E. Ahmed Kouchouk Deputy Minister of Finance.

​Focus on Sustainable Strategies

​The day’s program was structured around two key sessions.

​Session 1 reviewed three decades of cooperation with presentations on investment and trade from leading figures including the President of MENA Headquarters of the Korea International Trade Association representatives from the Egyptian Commercial Service the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and Hossam Heiba CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones GAFI.

​Session 2 a high-level panel discussion on "Future Strategies Policies and Innovations for Sustainable Economic Cooperation" was moderated by Hany Selim former Egyptian Ambassador. Panelists included key economic decision-makers such as Ahmed Saad CEO of the Suez Canal Economic Zone SCZONE a representative from the Egyptian Customs Authority the Vice Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries and Kim Won-kyum President of Samsung Electronics Egypt.

​The discussions highlighted mutual commitment to deepening cooperation particularly in areas like advanced manufacturing green technology and infrastructure development.

The conference concluded with closing remarks from Ambassador Kim Yonghyon.

​Ambassador Kim "Egypt is a True Gateway"

​Speaking on the enduring partnership Ambassador Kim Yonghyon stressed the pivotal role Egypt plays in regional commerce and investment.

​"We celebrate 30 years of deep friendship and strategic partnership between Korea and Egypt. This nation is more than just a partner it is a true gateway to both Africa and the Middle East" Ambassador Kim said. "I am confident that by aligning Korea’s technological prowess with Egypt’s ambitious industrial strategy and talented workforce our relationship will evolve from bilateral cooperation into a regional model for mutually prosperous and sustainable growth."

​The conference sets the stage for increased Korean investment in Egypt leveraging the country's strategic location and improved business climate to serve as a manufacturing and export hub.
