Production on Netflix's highly-anticipated “Knives Out" sequel has started in Greece.

Filmmaker Rian Johnson, the writer and director of the sequel, took to Twitter to share an update on the upcoming movie.

"Aaaaaaaand WE’RE OFF! Day one of filming on the next Benoit Blanc mystery. Thanks to all the lovely patient people here in Greece for letting us do all this murdering on their peaceful shores.” Johnson tweeted.

According to media reports, shooting locations are reported to be Spetses, an affluent island off the northeastern Peloponnese coast, and nearby Porto Heli, in the area known as the Greek Riviera.

The sequel is expected to wrap shooting in Greece by the end of July or August.

"Knives Out 2" features Daniel Craig reprising his role as the clever private investigator Benoit Blanc.

The sequel also stars a completely new cast, which includes Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline, and Jessica Henwick.

The first part of "Knives Out", which had a budget of $40 million, grossed $311.5 million at the global box office.

A sequel was greenlighted in February 2020, with Johnson and co-producer Ram Bergman shopped around for a distributor for about a year. In March, Netflix bought the rights to “Knives Out 2” and “Knives Out 3” for over $450 million.
