In light of the continued escalating tension between China and the United States (US) former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger warned of a second Cold War that is more dangerous than the first.

In an interview with a Spanish newspaper, he said that a new cold war might begin between Beijing and Washington.

He believed that both countries had similar economic resources, which was not the case during the first Cold War (which erupted between US and the Soviet Union and their allies from the mid-1940s until the early 1990s).

In addition, he saw that the two huge economic powers have now turned into rivals, considering that it is not permissible to wait for China to turn towards the West.

It is worth mentioing that Kissinger had previously warned of the seriousness of this Sino-American conflict, considering that it could turn into "the greatest challenge facing humanity."
