King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, affirmed the deep relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Al-Azhar during a telephone conversation where they also exchanged views on contemporary humanitarian challenges and Islamic issues.
During the call, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Grand Imam discussed the importance and urgency of intra-Islamic dialogue, highlighting that Bahrain will host a significant conference on this topic early next year. The pair emphasized the necessity of uniting the Islamic nation, fostering solidarity, and cooperation among its various components to address common challenges.
The Grand Imam expressed Al-Azhar's and the Muslim Council of Elders' pride in their strong relationship with the Kingdom of Bahrain and his appreciation for King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's efforts in serving Islam, promoting peace and coexistence, fostering a culture of dialogue, and supporting the Palestinian cause and the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people. His Eminence also stressed the need for the concerted efforts of sincere leaders to bring about peace in the region and the world.
In response, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Grand Imam, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, in serving Islam and Muslims, promoting the principles of the tolerant Islamic faith, and for the role of Al-Azhar and the Muslim Council of Elders in supporting the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations.
