On Friday, King Charles III paid a gentle tribute to his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on her first death anniversary.

In a short statement recorded at Balmoral Castle, where Queen Elizabeth II died, the King said: "In marking the first anniversary of Her Late Majesty's death and my accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us.

"I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all."

The statement was followed by releasing an unseen image of the Queen.

It was also reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales attended a special service at St Davids Cathedral in St Davids, west Wales.

Queen Elizabeth II died last year at the age 96, 2 days after receiving her 15th prime minister, Liz Truss,.
