UK's King Charles III has evicted Prince Andrew from Buckingham Palace due to an ongoing legal case against him for sexual assault involving the rape of a minor, according to a British newspaper.

"Any presence at the Palace is officially over. The King has made it clear. He isn't a working royal. He's on his own," a source was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

Instead, Charles III and his brother will attend a Christmas reception at Sandringham House on Sunday where Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew's ex-wife, will participate for the first time in 30 years, according to the newspaper.

Prince Andrew was a state counsellor to Queen Elizabeth II, but stepped back from his public duties in November 2019 "for the foreseeable future" and from January 2022 was stripped of his military affiliations and royal patronage.

Prince Andrew has been sued by 38-year-old Virginia Giuffre, an Australian-American human rights activist and advocate for victims of trafficking, for allegedly raping and sexually assaulting her when she was 17.

He settled out of court a civil sex abuse case in February 2022.
