During a high-level meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan issued a firm rejection of ongoing Israeli measures aimed at entrenching settlements and imposing sovereignty over the West Bank.

Accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the King underscored that these unilateral actions undermine the prospects for regional stability and a just peace. The summit served as a platform to strengthen the deep-rooted Jordanian-British partnership, with both leaders pledging to expand cooperation in the economic, investment, and technological sectors.

Urgent Humanitarian Priority: Gaza

Addressing the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip, King Abdullah emphasized the absolute necessity of implementing an immediate agreement to end the war. He called for an unhindered flow of humanitarian aid to all parts of the enclave to alleviate the unprecedented suffering of Palestinian civilians.

Regional Security and Global Partnerships

The discussions also touched upon the broader Middle East landscape:

Syrian Sovereignty: The King stressed the importance of supporting Syria's security, stability, and territorial integrity.

Defense Cooperation: Both parties agreed to deepen military and defense ties to serve mutual interests and regional security.

The "Aqaba Process": The King expressed appreciation for the UK’s hosting of a new round of the "Aqaba Process" meetings, scheduled for Tuesday, which focuses on global counter-terrorism efforts.

King Abdullah highlighted the United Kingdom's "pivotal role" in resolving regional conflicts and reiterated that a lasting peace can only be achieved through a two-state solution, leading to an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
