King Abdullah II of Jordan and Queen Rania Al Abdullah participated today, Saturday, in the funeral ceremony of His Holiness Pope Francis, held at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
Leaders and dignitaries from around the world also attended the funeral ceremony, which honored the life of Pope Francis, who passed away last Monday after a lifetime dedicated to promoting global peace, justice, tolerance, and love.
King Abdullah II had met with Pope Francis on several occasions between 2013 and 2024, including during the Pope’s pilgrimage visit to Jordan in 2014, which featured a visit to the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ, known as "Al-Maghtas."
