Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, on Tuesday called for a unified Arab media vision to keep pace with rapid digital transformation, as he addressed the opening session of the 45th General Assembly of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU).
Speaking in Tunis, Khattabi praised ASBU’s role as a key partner in joint Arab media action, stressing the need to modernize content, embrace global innovations and strengthen international partnerships. He highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence, digital transformation and media literacy, particularly for empowering youth and supporting sustainable development.
Khattabi noted the adoption of the Arab Media and Information Literacy Strategy and the Arab Artificial Intelligence Strategy, urging coordinated efforts to bridge the digital divide while safeguarding ethical and human values in the evolving media landscape.
