Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Arab League’s Media and Communication Sector, called for deeper Arab media cooperation and stronger international outreach during the 104th session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media in Kuwait on Tuesday.
Speaking at the meeting, Khattabi thanked Kuwait’s Ministry of Information for hosting the session ahead of the 22nd Executive Office meeting of Arab Information Ministers.
He highlighted progress made since the council’s 55th session in November 2025, including multiple committee meetings and new initiatives addressing digital media regulation, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, and climate communication.
Khattabi also stressed the need for coordinated media support for the Palestinian cause and the protection of Palestinian journalists’ rights. He urged swift implementation of approved Arab media strategies, expansion of media literacy programs, and stronger collaboration with regional institutions to promote professional standards, tolerance, and digital transformation across the Arab media landscape.
