Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh revealed that his country has rejected multiple requests from Washington for a direct dialogue.

On the current round of nuclear negotiations in the Austrian capital, Vienna, Khatibzadeh said in his weekly press conference today, Monday, that it is not possible to accept any demands beyond what is stipulated in the nuclear agreement.

He pointed out that there is a clear mechanism for work in Vienna and that the European Union (EU) coordinates the negotiations.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman added that Iran will not accept any time limit for the Vienna negotiations; its goal is to reach a good agreement, and the opposite party should present programs to lift sanctions and confirm its commitment to the nuclear agreement.

Today, Monday, the countries participating in the Vienna talks resumed negotiations to revive the Iranian nuclear agreement, after stopping them for three days due to the New Year holiday.

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and head of the Iranian delegation participating in the negotiations, Ali Bagheri Kani, confirmed that the talks are witnessing progress on the abolition of sanctions.

The Vienna negotiations are taking place between Iran and the 1 + 4 group, along with the representative of the European Union.

On the 13th of last December, Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian stressed the need for any good agreement resulting from the Vienna talks to include a return to the 2015 nuclear agreement in exchange for the lifting of sanctions imposed on Iran.

In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Abdollahian confirmed, during a telephone conversation with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, that "reaching a good agreement means that the Iranian nuclear program will proceed in accordance with the 2015 nuclear agreement in exchange for lifting sanctions on Iran."
