American actor and comedian Kevin Hart has been hospitalized on Sunday after he was badly injured in a car accident in Los Angeles.
Kevin, 40, was being driven in a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda shortly after midnight on Mulholland Highway when the driver lost control of the car and it tumbled down an embankment, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said in a statement.
It did not elaborate on the nature of the actor’s injuries, however, TMZ reported that he injured his back.
The CHP report added that Hart and the driver, 28-year-old Jared Black, suffered “major back injuries” and were taken to hospitals.
The actor was able to leave the scene of the crash with a second passenger, who was not badly hurt, and head to his home nearby to get medical attention.
He was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center and the driver was taken to another hospital.
A number of celebrities were keen to show their support and well wishes for the comedian after his injury including Dwayne Johnson, Terry Crews, and Bryan Cranston.
Johnson, Hart’s friend, and frequent collaborator shared a photo on Instagram of the two together from the upcoming Jumanji sequel.
“Stop messing with my emotions brother,” Johnson wrote in the caption. “We have a lot more laughing to do together. Love you man. Stay strong.”

The duo have appeared together in 2016’s Central Intelligence, 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and this summer’s Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.
They also co-hosted the 2016 MTV Movie Awards.
The actor, born on July 6, 1979, began his career by winning several amateur comedy competitions at clubs throughout New England, culminating in his first real break in 2001 when he was cast by Judd Apatow for a recurring role on the TV series Undeclared.
The series lasted only one season, but he soon landed other roles in films such as Paper Soldiers (2002), Scary Movie 3 (2003), Soul Plane (2004), In the Mix (2005), and Little Fockers (2010).
The actor is known for his stand-up comedy and comic roles in movies including “Ride Along,”.
