US Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry confirmed that the United States will support the establishment of a center in Egypt with an amount of $10 million related to excellence, training, and strengthening capacity to combat climate change.

Kerry noted that the US will also provide $25 million to contribute to the implementation of the African Initiative for Adaptation, and this amount will serve as a catalyst for the implementation of A number of programs with the assistance of the Egyptian government.

Kerry said - during his participation in a session entitled Accelerating Adaptation Efforts in Africa, on the sidelines of the Climate Summit (COP27) - that the Egyptian state has pleased world leaders during the past 6 days at the Climate Summit, stressing that the United States is honored to have Egypt participate in combating climate change.

He pointed out that the US strongly supports the Glasgow Agreement to finance adaptation efforts, noting that the United States will contribute a lot of financial resources because adaptation efforts need these resources in various parts of the world.

He explained that the United States will contribute $12 billion and is seeking an additional $3 billion from Congress, adding that US President Joe Biden announced earlier the allocation of $150 billion to a number of adaptation programs in Africa to combat weather changes.

The US presidential envoy added that his country is committed to working with its partners to provide all aspects of support to fragile countries and help them adapt to the effects of climate change, noting that developed, least developed and developing countries and emerging economies have stumbled, which requires making all efforts to help those countries
