US climate envoy John Kerry said that the upcoming climate summit in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt is an "implementation summit", to preserve pledges and affirm our commitment to the recommendations of the Glasgow Climate Conference last year, explaining: "we must do our best to limit global warming".
10 days before the annual United Nations climate conference, Kerry added that there is a great commitment by Egypt and the UAE to make a major shift in the COP27 and COP28 summits, praising the Egyptian government’s sponsorship of the upcoming summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, and its tireless efforts to boost Renewables energy and emissions reduction.
He added that the UAE uses extensive technology in gas, stressing that Egypt and UAE are working to bring about a real transformation in the region, since they are the hosts of the next two summits, as they talk about the future, Kerry also praised the courageous leadership in the two countries.
He affirmed his support for Egypt and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, who is leading the Egyptian efforts, and expressed his confidence that the climate summit will be fruitful.
