On Saturday, US climate envoy John Kerry said that Egypt has already been selected as a nominee to host the COP27 U.N. climate conference next year.
Each year, a country representing a different region of the world assumes the presidency of the conference, and the meeting is probably hosted in that country.
Last month, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi officially announced his country's interest in hosting this summit.
This year's edition is set to be held in Glasgow, Scotland next November.
