Kenya is facing a worsening humanitarian crisis due to torrential rains and widespread flooding that has killed at least 108 people, according to an updated toll released by the national police on Saturday.
The flash floods began on March 6, causing widespread devastation across the country. The torrents swept away dozens of vehicles, disrupted air traffic, and severely damaged infrastructure, particularly power plants.
Authorities reported that more than 2,700 families have been displaced, and the dangers persist despite a decrease in rainfall in some areas. Officials warn that the threat remains, as drainage systems are clogged and the soil is saturated, increasing the likelihood of renewed flooding.
