Egyptian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry met Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi on Monday to discuss several subjects of mutual interest to the both countries.
Moreover, Shoukry delivered a “special” message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Uhuru.
Kenyatta and Shoukry discussed several subjects of mutual interest to “Kenya and Egypt among them the harmonious utilization of shared natural resources for the benefit of all regional states,” State House Kenya revealed on Twitter.
The Foreign Minister also expressed his country's confidence in Kenya’s ability to mediate disputes between African Union member states in her capacity as the chair of the AU Peace and Security Council (AUPSC)
This visit comes as a part of an African tour, during which, the minister is set to brief leaders of African countries on recent updates on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) file, as Ethiopia plans to move ahead with the second filling of the dam in July despite the objections of Egypt and Sudan over the move in the absence of a legally binding deal.
Additionally, the tour will include Comoros, South African, Senegal, and Tunisia.
