English actress Keira Knightley will star in the serial killer movie "Boston Strangler", which boasts Ridley Scott and Margot Robbie as producers.
The "Crown Heights" creator Matt Ruskin wrote the script and will direct the project in December.
Disney subsidiary 20th Century Studios are behind the project, with Scott and Kevin Walsh of Scott Free will serve as part of the producorial team along with Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara of Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment.
The movie is based on the infamous Boston Strangler murders and focuses on the true story of Loretta McLaughlin (Knightley), the first reporter to connect the murders and break the story of the Strangler.
She teamed up with fellow journalist Jean Cole in the early 1960s to report the case, despite the inherent sexism they faced from their own industry. McLaughlin ended up uncovering a web of corruption that potentially cast doubt on the true identity of the Boston Strangler.
Knightly will also star in "Silent Night" and voices the title character in "Charlotte".
