The Almaty airport announced, on Wednesday, that it would not resume operations until January 14.
"Yes, we confirm," the press service told reporters, commenting on the relevant reports on social media.
Later on, the press service withdrew its comment, pointing out that more accurate information will be shared during the day.The exact dates for reopening will be announced later.
"We do not confirm yet," the airport said.
Last week, Turkish Airlines decided to suspend passengers flights to Kazakhstan over the unrest in the Central Asian nation until January 9.
The Almaty international airport was overtaken by protesters, according to Reuters.
Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that order had been largely “restored” in the country after several days of unprecedented unrest.
“Law enforcement agencies are working hard. The constitutional order has largely been restored in all regions,” he said in a statement, adding that operations to restore law and order would continue “until the militants are completely destroyed.
Dozens of protesters were reported dead after violent demonstrations over gas prices. This is the biggest demonstration since the country declared independence from the Soviet Union.
