Kazakhstan Declares State of Emergency Following Floods

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan has declared the recent floods that inundated various regions in the country as the worst in 80 years.

The state head announced that a state of emergency has been declared in 10 areas across the republic.

President Tokayev issued directives to the government to allocate necessary funds to mitigate the extensive repercussions of the floods.

He emphasized that the allocated funds must be commensurate with the damages suffered by citizens.

Military forces have been deployed to assist rescue teams in the affected areas, as per the President's orders.

According to the President, a natural disaster of possibly unprecedented scale and consequences in the last 80 years has occurred. Tokayev stressed that the paramount concern is to prevent human losses.

As per available data, 46,755 individuals have been rescued and evacuated from flood-affected areas. The ministry of Emergency Situations in the Republic reported that 3,171 private residences remain submerged in water.
