Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the Israeli military will not withdraw from southern Lebanon, even if there are American demands to do so.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted Katz as saying: "Even if there is an American request, the IDF will not withdraw from southern Lebanon. We will not leave the security zone in Syria and Lebanon. This is the security concept we adopt. We will not withdraw."
