American pop star Katy Perry is planning to name her baby girl after her late grandmother, Ann Pearl Hudson, who passed away shortly after Perry announced her pregnancy, according to multiple reports.

The 35-year-old singer is reportedly naming her baby Pearl, Hudson, or Ann, sources revealed on Rob Shuter's podcast "‎Naughty But Nice with Rob Shuter" on Monday.

The source stated that Perry's grandmother was the one who shaped her into the "women"  and the "fighter" that she is today.

"Katy believes that it is not a coincidence that her grandmother soul leaves the earth, and another arrives."

Perry announced her grandmother's death in a lengthy tribute on March 9.

The 35-year-old singer revealed on social media last Friday evening the gender of her first child with actor fiance Orlando Bloom.

The"I Kissed A Girl" singer posted a picture of Bloom with his face covered in pink toned whipped cream, and captioned: "It's a girl,".

In early March, Perry used her music to announce her pregnancy as she featured cradling her growing baby bump at the end of her music video of her latest single "Never Worn White".

On March 8, Perry admitted that she was hoping to have a girl during her performance at the Women’s Cricket World Cup Final in Melbourne, Australia.

The pair were set to get married in front of 150 guests in Japan this summer, but have also been forced to push the date back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The "teenage dream" singer and the "lord of the rings" actor first started dating after meeting at the 2016 Golden Globes, before Bloom proposed to her on Valentine’s Day in 2019.

The 35-year-old singer is expected to give birth in the summer, which will be Perry's first child, but Bloom's second, being that he shares a 9-year-old son named Flynn with his former wife Miranda Kerr.
