American pop star Katy Perry has dropped a new song titled “Daisies”, from her forthcoming fifth album.

Perry also revealed that the album will arrive on August 14 via Capitol. In 2017, she released her previous album "Witness".

She has been releasing singles ever since such as “Harleys in Hawaii,” “Small Talk,” “Never Really Over,” and “365.”

Message behind Daisies

“Daisies” is an empowering song about the strength of the human spirit. Perry reflected how she has gotten herself back off the ground after she was knocked down.

“They said I’m going nowhere, tried to count me out,” she sings. “Took those sticks and stones, showed ’em I could build a house, they tell me that I’m crazy, but I’ll never let them change me, ’til they cover me in daisies, daisies, daisies.”

The music video was filmed outdoors, which was directed and produced by director Liza Voloshin, from a safe social distance.

In her latest tweet, Perry talked about her new song, saying: "I wrote this song a couple months ago as a call to remain true to the course you’ve set for yourself, regardless of what others may think. Recently, it has taken a new meaning for me, in light of what the whole world is experiencing. #Daisies,"

In another tweet, she added, "Each of us is one in more than seven billion, with our own story of strength and resilience to tell. DAISIES is out now. I hope it will be the soundtrack to going for your dreams now... especially the ones we left behind."

Katy Perry plans

Last April, the pop star addressed whether if she was planning to have a baby shower amid a global pandemic.

Perry went on another Facebook Live chat and answered fans’ questions about both the show and her personal life.

The American Idol judge, who is expecting her first child with her actor fiance Orlando Bloom, stated that the current events have thrown all her preconceptions.

“I know not everyone does a babymoon or a baby shower, but I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to do any of that. I’m just taking it one day at a time” she said.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

Last April, she revealed on social media the gender of her baby with a messy picture of Bloom whose face was covered in pink-toned whipped cream, which was captioned: “It’s a girl,”.

The 35-year-old singer is reportedly planning to name her baby girl after her late grandmother, Ann Pearl Hudson, who passed away shortly after Perry announced her pregnancy, according to multiple reports.

Early April, sources revealed on Rob Shuter’s podcast “‎Naughty But Nice with Rob Shuter”, revealed that Perry is naming her baby Pearl, Hudson, or Ann.

The source stated that Perry’s grandmother was the one who shaped her into the “women” and the “fighter” that she is today.

“Katy believes that it is not a coincidence that her grandmother soul leaves the earth, and another arrives.”

Perry announced her grandmother’s death in a lengthy tribute on March 9.

Ann Pearl Hudson and Katy PerryOn March 8, Perry admitted that she was hoping to have a girl during her performance at the Women’s Cricket World Cup Final in Melbourne, Australia. The pair were set to get married originally in front of 150 guests in Japan later this year, however like so many people in the world, they have also been forced to push the date to 2021 back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The “teenage dream” singer and the “lord of the rings” actor first started dating after meeting at the 2016 Golden Globes, before Bloom proposed to her on Valentine’s Day in 2019.
