Karlovy Vary to Honor Johnny Depp, Michael Caine

The 55th edition of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) will honor actor, producer, and musician Johnny Depp.

KVIFF is the second European event this week to be paying tribute to the actor’s career.

Depp, who is also set to be honored at San Sebastian this year, is set to attend the Czech festival which will recognize and pay tribute to the acclaimed actor’s extensive career and lasting legacy on the film industry globally.

The festival will also honor UK actor Michael Caine with outstanding artistic contribution to the world cinema award. He was also selected this year’s festival's special guest and is set to be presented with a Crystal Globe at the festival’s opening ceremony.

At the closing ceremony, the KVIFF President’s Award, which the festival honors domestic filmmakers, will be presented to Czech director Jan Svěrák.

He is also set to personally present his movie “The Ride,” which won the 1995 Crystal Globe for best film at the 30th edition of Karlovy Vary.

The festival will take place Aug. 20-28.
