Jordan's King Abdullah II has warned of the consequences of the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and called on the international community to enhance its humanitarian response in the region.

During a phone call with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, according to a statement from the Royal Hashemite Court, King Abdullah reiterated the need to stop the Israeli war on Gaza and Lebanon and to de-escalate tensions in the region.

He also highlighted the dangers posed by continued violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank, as well as the violations occurring at Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

King Abdullah expressed his appreciation for the Netherlands' efforts in supporting a ceasefire and stressed the importance of establishing a political horizon for achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
