Jordanian King Abdullah II, during his meeting in New York, warned United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of the dangerous escalation in the region, according to a statement published by the Petra news agency.
During the meeting, the King of Jordan stressed "the necessity of reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, as a first step to stop the escalation."
He added, "The Israeli attacks in the West Bank must stop, including the attacks of extremist colonialists against the Palestinians, and the violations against Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem."
He renewed his call to strengthen the international response to face the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, stressing the importance of protecting workers in relief organizations to enable them to carry out their role.
The Jordanian King called on the international community to "continue supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), to enable it to carry out its humanitarian role, within its UN mandate."
