Jordanian King Abdullah II reaffirmed the urgent need to halt the fighting in the Gaza Strip and ensure the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid.
He reiterated Jordan’s rejection of Israeli plans to entrench the occupation of Gaza, expand military control over the territory, and accelerate settlement expansion in the West Bank.
The King’s remarks came during his meeting on Sunday with U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Joe Wilson, in the presence of Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and the King’s Office Director, Alaa Al-Bataina.
King Abdullah underscored the importance of supporting the Palestinian people in securing their legitimate rights and establishing their independent state based on the two-state solution.
He also highlighted the necessity of supporting Syria in maintaining its security, stability, and sovereignty.
During the meeting, discussions also touched on the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States and joint efforts to advance peace and stability in the Middle East.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met separately with Senator Shaheen, where they reviewed ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, as well as regional developments.
