Jordanian Foreign Minister (FM) Ayman Safadi, held a phone call with Swedish counterpart Maria Stenergard, congratulating her on her new position. They discussed ways to enhance the strong friendship between the two countries.
Safadi and Stenergard affirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in various fields and continuing efforts to develop cooperation and coordination.
The two ministers also discussed preparations for the upcoming conference in support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which both countries will co-host to mobilize political and financial support for the agency on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings later this month.
Safadi emphasized the importance of the partnership with Sweden in supporting the agency, which requires steady and continuous international support to enable it to continue providing its vital services to refugees in accordance with its UN mandate.
According to a statement from the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, the ministers also discussed efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, end the humanitarian catastrophe, and reduce escalation in the West Bank and the region.
