Jordanian Foreign Minister (FM) Ayman Safadi emphasized the importance of coordinated international efforts to ensure immediate and sufficient aid reaches all areas of Gaza.
He also highlighted the vital role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in these efforts.
During his meeting on Sunday with World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Cindy McCain, Safadi underscored the importance of ongoing cooperation between Jordan and the WFP to ensure the delivery of adequate and sustainable humanitarian aid to Gaza.
According to a statement from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting also addressed the Syrian refugee crisis, particularly the declining international support for refugees, UN organizations involved with them, and the host countries.
Jordanian FM stressed that providing aid and a dignified life for refugees is a shared responsibility and should not fall solely on host countries. He warned of the consequences of reduced international support for refugees.
Moreover, Safadi stated, "Jordan cannot fill the gap left by the reduction of programs by UN organizations that assist refugees in the Kingdom."
