Jordanian Foreign Minister (FM) Ayman Safadi emphasized the importance of collective international efforts to ensure the immediate and sufficient delivery of aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip, noting the significant role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in these efforts.
During his meeting on Sunday with Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Program (WFP), Safadi highlighted the strong cooperation between Jordan and WFP to guarantee the adequate and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
According to a statement issued by the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting also addressed the Syrian refugee crisis, especially the decline in international support for refugees, UN agencies, and host countries.
Safadi stressed that providing aid and ensuring a dignified life for refugees is a shared responsibility that should not fall solely on host countries. He warned of the consequences of reduced international support for refugees.
He stated, "Jordan cannot fill the gap left by the reduction in UN programs designed to assist refugees in the Kingdom."
