The Jordanian army announced that it will deploy its patrols to secure the "Baghdad Cooperation and Partnership" conference, which will be held in the Kingdom next Tuesday, amid protests in the country.
An official military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces said that the army will deploy "military forces and vehicles on the road from Queen Alia International Airport to the Dead Sea region, in preparation for the launch of the second edition of the Baghdad Cooperation and Partnership Conference, which will be held in the Kingdom next Tuesday."
The Jordan News Agency (Petra) stated that the conference will be held to discuss challenges related to food security, pharmaceutical security and energy in the region and the world, with the participation of the Hashemite Kingdom, Egypt, Iraq and a number of countries expected to participate, including France.
The Jordanian General Security announced the intensification of its patrols in various governorates, which are witnessing protests against the deteriorating living conditions.
The Public Security Directorate said in a statement carried by the agency earlier that it would intensify its security deployment "to ensure the enforcement of the rule of law and maintain the security of citizens."
