Jordanian Army Foils Drug Smuggling Attempt by Drone on Eastern Border

The Jordanian Armed Forces have thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics into the country using a drone along the eastern military zone, according to a military spokesperson.

In an official statement released on Saturday, a senior source within the Jordanian Armed Forces confirmed that the Eastern Military Region successfully intercepted a drone carrying illicit drugs as it attempted to cross into Jordanian territory illegally.

The operation was carried out by Border Guard units in cooperation with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. Forces monitoring the border detected the drone as it violated Jordan’s airspace, prompting an immediate response to jam its signals and neutralize its payload.

The confiscated narcotics were seized and handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation and legal action.

The military reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to national security, stressing that the Jordanian Armed Forces will continue to use all available resources to combat cross-border smuggling and infiltration attempts.
