The Jordanian government said on Tuesday that the army had strengthened its deployment along the border with Israel.
The government warned that any attempt by Israel to force the Palestinians across the Jordan River to come to Jordan would constitute a violation of the peace treaty with Israel.
Jordanian Prime Minister (PM) Bisher Al-Khasawneh stated that his country will resort to "everything in its power" to prevent Israel from implementing any displacement policy to expel Palestinians en masse from the West Bank.
Official media quoted Al-Khasawneh as saying, “Any displacement of Palestinians or the creation of conditions leading to it will be considered by Jordan as a declaration of war and a fundamental violation of the peace treaty,” referring to the treaty concluded in 1994.
Jordan's PM stressed that any threat to Jordanian national security "will put all solutions on the table."
He added that the deployment of the Jordanian army during the past few days along the border with Israel comes within the framework of efforts to protect the country's security.
