The Jordanian Armed Forces announced on Friday that the Eastern Military Zone successfully thwarted two drug smuggling attempts at dawn using balloons loaded with narcotics.
According to the statement, border guards, working in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected the balloons, which were guided with primitive devices. The forces intercepted and brought them down inside Jordanian territory before the contraband could be smuggled across.
The seized materials were immediately handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation.
The Jordanian military has repeatedly stressed that it will continue to deal firmly with any attempts to smuggle drugs or infiltrate the country’s borders, underscoring its commitment to national security and the safety of citizens.
