On Tuesday, Jordan summoned the Israeli ambassador in Amman and relayed a "strongly-worded message" protesting the detention of two Jordanians in Israel.

Deifallah Fayez, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the Jordanian Embassy in Tel Aviv should be allowed to visit the two citizens as soon as possible and Israel is to be held accountable for their safety.

The ministry in mid-May said two Jordanians were arrested after they crossed into Israel following major demonstrations in Jordan near the Israeli borders to protest the Israeli aggression on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem, and the West Bank.
