Jordan has announced its readiness to supply a portion of Syria's electricity needs and collaborate on oil derivatives, signaling a significant step toward bolstering cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

Speaking during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Jordanian Energy Minister Saleh Al-Kharabsheh expressed the country's willingness to provide part of Syria’s electricity requirements.

He also offered to send a technical team to assist Syrian authorities in assessing the readiness of their electrical grid.

In addition to electricity, Al-Kharabsheh stated Jordan’s openness to collaborate with Syria on importing, storing, and transporting oil derivatives via Jordan to meet Syrian demands.

Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan emphasized the strategic importance of supporting Syria, describing its security, stability, and prosperity as intrinsically linked to Jordan's own.

Hassan reiterated that, under the guidance of King Abdullah II, Jordan is committed to offering Syria institutional capacity-building support, alongside training and development in critical sectors such as health, transportation, water, and electricity.

Syria is grappling with a severe electricity crisis, with daily power outages exceeding 20 hours in many areas. As a result, most Syrians rely on alternative energy sources such as solar power and generators.
