The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the Israeli police raid on the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem. The Ministry described the raid as a blatant violation of international law and a breach of the immunities and privileges of United Nations organizations.
The Ministry's official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Majali, affirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection and strong condemnation of Israel's continued systematic campaign to restrict UNRWA and curtail its vital and irreplaceable role in providing services to Palestinian refugees in its five areas of operation, as mandated by the United Nations.
Majali pointed out that the Israeli actions target the symbolic importance of UNRWA, which affirms the right of Palestinian refugees to return and receive compensation under international law. He added that this is a clear attempt to deprive the Palestinian people of essential rights and services recognized by the international community and relevant UN resolutions, particularly Resolution 194.
