16 female workers in a clothing factory in Der Abi Saeed, in Irbid, Jordan, were injured as a result of a boiler explosion inside the building.

Jordanian media reported that the injured workers were taken to Princess Raya Government Hospital after a small boiler used to iron manufactured clothes exploded.

The workers left the hospital, except for a case who was admitted while she is under treatment.

On Monday, a team from the Directorate of Occupational Safety at the Labor Ministry, the Irbid Labor Directorate, and the Public Health and Safety Committee of the Koura District revealed the factory where the explosion occurred.

The administrator of the Koura District, head of the Public Health and Safety Committee, Bakr Al-Kaabneh, said that the disclosure will ensure the provision of a healthy and safe work environment for male and female workers in the factory in order to prevent accidents, work injuries and health damage caused by occupational risks.

He pointed out that the Public Health and Safety Committee periodically inspects production facilities in the Koura District for this purpose.
