Johnson, Zelensky Hold Phone Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Saturday, the details of his phone call with UK Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson.

"I keep in touch with Boris Johnson. Spoke about the situation on the battlefield and in the blocked Mariupol," the Ukrainian president tweeted.

"We discussed defense support for Ukraine and the necessary diplomatic efforts to achieve peace," he added.

On his part, Johnson reiterated his continued support for Ukraine to defend itself against Russia.

"I spoke to President @ZelenskyyUa earlier to set out how the UK will continue to provide military and humanitarian aid to give Ukrainians the equipment they need to defend themselves," UK PM tweeted.

"I'm more committed than ever to reinforcing Ukraine and ensuring Putin fails," he added.

last week, Johnson held phone talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about a new phase of military aid to Ukraine, including the provision of heavy weapons, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian President, Andrei Sepiga, confirmed.

Sepiga added that both officials also talked about further financial support for Ukraine.

Earlier, British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson confirmed that the UK would send more defensive weapons to Ukraine to help it confront Russia.

“The UK will send more defensive weapons to Ukraine and will work with G7 partners to target every pillar of the Russian economy to ensure Putin fails,” Johnson tweeted.

Moreover, Johnson said that his country would not allow “Russia’s crimes” in Ukraine to go unpunished.
