British Prime Minister Boris Johnson supported Health Secretary Matt Hancock after breaking social distancing rules when he kissed a close aide, the Times reported on Saturday.

Hancock was spotted kissing Gina Coladangelo at the Department of Health headquarters in London, in CCTV images said to have been taken just after 3 pm on May 6.

Hancock said he was “very sorry” for letting people down after the video and pictures were revealed to the public.

Labour criticized the PM “spineless” for failing to Hancock, as Johnson’s spokesman refused to say eight times whether he had broken the law.

Nevertheless, the spokesman said: “The Prime Minister has accepted the Health Secretary’s apology and considers the matter closed.” However, Johnson did not deny that the health secretary broke the rules.

But Labour said: “This matter is definitely not closed, despite the Government’s attempts to cover it up."

“Matt Hancock appears to have been caught breaking the laws he created while having a secret relationship with an aide."

“The Prime Minister recently described him as ‘useless’ - the fact that even now he still can’t sack him shows how spineless he is.”

On the other hand, grieving families stated that keeping him in his post was a “slap in the face” for people who could not hug loved ones at funerals last month due to Covid guidance.

Hancock was forced to issue a grovelling apology after The Sun published pictures of him in this scandalous position with Coladangelo.

“I accept that I breached the social distancing guidance in these circumstances, I have let people down and am very sorry," the married Health Secretary asserted.

“I remain focused on working to get the country out of this pandemic, and would be grateful for privacy for my family on this personal matter.”
