On Tuesday, US Climate Envoy John Kerry had a meeting with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Head of Foreign Relations Wang Yi on the future of the bilateral relationships between the US and China.
Kerry told Wang Yi that the Biden administration hope that both China and the US can “achieve efforts together that can make a significant difference to the world.”
Recently, the mutual ties between the two major world forces are at a low due to disputes over tariffs, and the crisis of Taiwan.
Wang initiated his remarks after the meeting that both parties are suffering from a lack of communication, however, China is keen to renew its dialogue with the US, so they "can find a proper solution to any problems.”
On his side, Kerry expressed that he appreciated the opportunity to make the relationships between US and China better, continuing that President Biden is “very committed to stability within this relationship and also to achieve efforts together that can make a significant difference to the world.”
He added that Biden “values his relationship with President Xi (Jinping), and I think President Xi values his relationship with President Biden, and I know he looks forward to being able to move forward and change the dynamic."
Kerry is the third senior US Official to travel to China for conducting mutual meetings with their counterparts in the past few weeks after the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
