Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States, will deliver a speech at the unveiling of the “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” exhibition ahead of the annual gala.
Diana M. Montalvo, a Library and Collections intern at The Costume Institute, will introduce the first lady ahead of her brief speech. The exhibition is scheduled to open to the public on Saturday, May 7.
“It is an exceptional honor and a privilege to welcome the First Lady of the United States Dr. Jill Biden to The Metropolitan Museum of Art,” said Daniel H. Weiss, the president and CEO of the Met.
“We look forward to recognizing together the powerful ways in which art can teach us about our past, connect us to the present, and inspire a vision for the future.”
Following her remarks, Biden will tour the exhibit with the Met’s interns; Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute; and Sylvia Yount, the Lawrence A. Fleischman Curator in Charge of The American Wing.
