All flights operated by US airline JetBlue Airways have been suspended after the carrier requested a temporary halt to its operations, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA said Tuesday that all JetBlue aircraft were grounded at the company’s request, effectively suspending the airline’s flights until further notice.
Authorities and the airline have not disclosed the reason behind the suspension. Officials said efforts are underway to resolve the issue and restore flight operations as soon as possible.
The decision is expected to affect thousands of passengers. JetBlue is one of the major low-cost carriers in the United States and operates an extensive network of domestic and international routes.
The airline’s primary hub is located at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.
