Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida departed for Washington today, Monday.
According to the Japanese news agency Kyodo, citing Japanese government officials, Kishida is scheduled to hold a summit with US President Joe Biden after tomorrow, Wednesday, in Washington, as well as address a joint session of the US Congress next Thursday.
It is expected that Kishida, who is set to return to Tokyo next Sunday, will emphasize the importance of Japanese-American cooperation in various fields.
Before departing Tokyo, Kishida stated, "I want to reaffirm that Japan and the United States have built a stronger relationship, and this visit will be an important opportunity to convey this message to the world."
He added that this visit will help strengthen the bilateral alliance.
