Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Sanae Takaichi plans to make her first official visit to the United States (US) this March for talks with President Donald Trump, aimed at strengthening the bilateral alliance between the two nations, Japanese diplomatic sources reported.
According to the Kyodo News Agency, Tokyo and Washington have already begun arrangements for Takaichi's first overseas trip since she took office as Prime Minister last October.
Sources indicate that both sides are eyeing March 20 as a potential date for the visit.
This timing coincides with the start of a three-day holiday weekend in Japan, making it a suitable window that is unlikely to interfere with Japanese parliamentary deliberations.
The sources clarified that Japanese investments in the United States, along with bilateral cooperation to enhance critical mineral supply chains, will top the agenda.
It is also expected that a joint statement may be issued following her high-level discussions with President Donald Trump.
