Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Fumio Kishida and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will hold a summit in New York next month, according to Kyodo news agency.
The meeting aims at discussing Tehran's nuclear program and some other issues, according to Reuters news agency.
Iran is seeking to strengthen relations with Japan, with which it has friendly relations for a long time.
Moreover, Kishida and Raisi are expected to discuss what was reported about Iran sending drones to Russia during the war in Ukraine.
