In collaboration with the Japan Foundation, Cairo, Assiut University has held Japanese language trial sessions for the first time.
According to a statement recently issued by the Japanese Embassy in Cairo, the sessions consisted of four parts in total. There were two in-person sessions on June 2 and 3, 2024, and two online sessions on June 5 and 6, 2024. In total, 150 learners attended.
The purpose of these sessions was to introduce Japanese language education in Assiut. It was the first time Japanese courses were offered in the area, and due to confirmed demand, Assiut University decided to hold a full introductory course in cooperation with the Japan Foundation, Cairo. Preparation for the course's implementation has already begun.
In honor of this significant event, a ceremony was held on Sunday, June 2. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Prof. Dr. Gamal Badr, Vice President of Assiut University for Postgraduate Education and International Affairs, Dr. Dina Mourad, a faculty member at the Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University and Coordinator of International Relations, Ms. Ayumi Hashimoto, Director of the Japan Foundation, Cairo, and Mr. Koji Iio, Japanese Language Education Advisor at the Japan Foundation, Cairo.
The Japan Foundation is an independent administrative organization established in 1972 under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Its purpose is to promote international cultural exchange and to foster and enhance positive relationships with foreign countries in various fields including arts, culture, Japanese language, and Japanese studies.
